Wow, High-Fructose Corn Syrup Makes You Dumb Too!
Prediabetes/Brain Activity and High-Fructose Corn Syrup Connection
A new study has come out that high-fructose corn syrup in addition to being bad for prediabetes and diabetes, it also sabotages learning and memory. It also found that Omega-3 fatty acids helps to counteract this. I already knew that high-fructose corn syrup was bad for diabetes but it just gets worse.
UCLA just released a study showing that high-fructose corn syrup also interferes with learning and memory. They tested two groups of lab rats by seeing how well they navigated a maze with visual markers to help them remember the way. After six weeks of being fed a
high fructose solution and one group also receiving Omega-3 fatty acids then they were tested again. The rats with the high-fructose corn syrup were slower and showed a decline in synaptic activity!
This study suggests that “Because insulin can penetrate the blood–brain barrier, the hormone may signal neurons to trigger reactions that disrupt learning and cause memory loss,” This study also suggests that Omega-3 fatty acids help to improve the brain synaptic activity in addition to being beneficial to your heart and overall good health which is already known.
High-fructose corn syrup is six times sweeter than cane sugar and is pervasive in all the processed foods that we consume all the time. You have to make a conscious effort to get away from this stuff to lower glucose and be healthy. The USDA says that Americans consume on average 40 pounds of high-fructose corn syrup. Wow that is a lot and does not take into account the other forms of sweetener that are consumed. We are literally killing ourselves with all the crap we consume and most people don’t even pay any attention to it.

High-fructose corn syrup is already associated with obesity, prediabetes, diabetes, and other health problems that stem from these. Prediabetes and diabetes have reached epidemic proportions and not enough is being said about it. As many as 7 million people have undiagnosed prediabetes that will turn into diabetes type II within 5-10 years if a change in diet and lifestyle is not made.
I am concerned about this because I was diagnosed with prediabetes early on and decided to do something about it. I dug deep and researched everything I could and found out that there is a lot that you can do to counteract and reverse prediabetes and I created a website to show others how they can do it too. I am no longer prediabetic. Let me show you how I overcame this, you can do this too! Visit my “Food” page and see what foods will help you to begin lowering your glucose.
