Prediabetes is a Major Health Issue Now

1 in 4 teens are diabetic or prediabetic according to a new study released on 5/21/12 by the journal Pediatrics. That means that our kids will experience the associated diseases like cardiovascular disease, hypertension and high cholesterol that used to be associated with a much older population. Glucose levels in children are way higher now than in the past.

I have been trying to inform people through my website Lower My Glucose that you can reverse this prediabetes condition of high glucose levels if you learn about it early on and alter diet and exercise. It is good to see that this is getting some big press now because it is a huge epidemic that is affecting our kids and young adults as never before. It is getting worse and growing all the time, I think we are only beginning to grasp the magnitude of this problem.

Prediabetes and later type II diabetes is one of the biggest healthcare issues of the future in my opinion. I believe it has been brought about by our kid’s diets shifting primarily to processed foods, fast food, high sugar intake, and consumption of white flour products. Think about it, what do your kid’s eat the most of? I have 3 kids and all the stuff that is promoted and pushed on kids is alarming and as uninformed parents we rarely do a thing to stop it.

Society in general has gotten so far away from whole foods and eating healthy and instead eating what is readily available, quick and cheap to buy. Most of the health issues of the future will be self inflected by our own ignorance. To learn what you can do to lower your glucose significantly visit my “Nuts & Bolts” page and maybe leave a comment on what you do to lower your glucose.
